Gluco - UX Design
In this project I was tasked with designing something that could be possible 5 years in the future. There were no other guidelines to the project other than to design something that was set in the future. I took the route of something medical designing an apple watch app that can help type 1 diabetics manage their blood sugar levels. This app integrates both blood monitoring systems as well as insulin injection systems.
Objectives:
Project: Student Project
Type: UX/UI Design
Year: 2024
Tech: Figma, Adobe Photoshop, User Research
Project Summary:
Gluco is a solution to many different problems that type 1 diabetics have to face. When dealing with diabetes, many diabetic users have the choice of managing their blood sugar by using needles, or by using devices that aid in assisting with the process. With having the technology of assisting you would think that there would be technology to manage everything from one device. This is just not true. Many people that deal with type one diabetes require 2 separate devices to help manage their blood sugar. One device will give you updates on what your blood sugar level is reading, and one device is strictly used to communicate with the pod that injects insulin into the users bloodstream.
Gluco looks to combine both of these services into one device. Gluco offers a carb counting service that can scan the barcodes of products and track the amount of carbs inside. Through Gluco diabetics will be able to manage both insulin intake, as well as constant glucose monitoring. Through the lock screen users will be able to see their blood sugar with a simple look down at their Apple Watch. When users are about to sit down for a meal, they can use a data base that will count the carbs for them, reducing the stress of trying to figure out how much insulin you really have to take. Gluco aims to be a companion in diabetic management for all type 1 diabetics.
